On
behalf of Elaine Faustman, Chair of the IUTOX Education Committee, please see
the details below and the attached application form, regarding the array of
awards being made available to scientists attending the Fourteenth
International Congress of Toxicology (ICTXIV) in Merida, Mexico from October 2 –
6, 2016. IUTOX ICT meetings occur only once every three years and offer the
opportunity to learn the latest developments in toxicological science through
general scientific sessions and continuing education
classes.
Toxicology
Education Foundation
The
Toxicology Education Foundation announces the availability of the
2016 Robert L. Dixon
International Travel Award, which is offered every three years.
The 2016 Award provides $2,000 to enable the recipient to attend the
International Congress of Toxicology XIV in Merida, Mexico, October 2–6, 2016.
This award was established in memory of Robert L. Dixon (SOT President
1982–1983) as a tribute to his dedication to the field of toxicology and student
training. Applications are due no later than March 31,

IUTOX
Travel Awards
IUTOX will
provide financial support to individuals attending ICTXIV in Merida, Mexico from
October 2–6, 2016. Two types of fellowships will be awarded. Junior toxicologist
fellowships are aimed at individuals at an early stage in their careers. Senior
toxicologist fellowships are aimed at those involved in organizational
activities in their own national society. The ICTXIV organizers will waive the
meeting registration fee for up to 40 fellowship recipients. Application and
evaluation criteria are indicated below.
Junior
Fellowships ($750 USD)
Application
criteria:
- Young scientist (less
than 35 years) who is a member of an IUTOX Member Society, or a Toxicological
Society considering membership in IUTOX, or comes from a developing country
(supporting letter from the national society or equivalent
required)
- Abstract submitted to
ICTXIV through conference abstract submission process (copy of abstract shall be
attached)
- Toxicological
education
- A statement of
motivation for attending ICTXIV
- A statement
confirming ability to meet other expenses to attend
ICTXIV
Evaluation
criteria:
- Support from home
society and ability to represent that Society
- Abstract
quality
- Toxicological
qualifications
- Ability to meet other
expenses to attend ICTXIV
All
applications must be submitted to IUTOX Headquarters by May 31, 2016.
Electronic submission is accepted. Awardees will be notified by June 30.
Previous IUTOX, ICT, CTDC and SOT/AstraZeneca/SOT Endowment travel fellowship
winners who won awards in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 are ineligible to
compete for ICTXIV travel awards.

Toxicological Society in a developing country considering membership in IUTOX
(supporting letter from the national society with a description of the role the
applicant has in the national society is required)

attached)

Trainee and Early Toxicologist Awards
Members
new to the field of toxicology may also want to apply for ICT IUTOX Trainee Awards or
the ICT IUTOX Early Toxicologist Award. More information on these awards may
be found on our website at: http://www.iutox.org/grants.asp. Applications will be due on May 31,
2016.
IUTOX
Merit Award Nominations Now being Accepted
The IUTOX Merit Award is
presented to an individual in recognition of a long and distinguished career in
toxicology at the international level. Achievements in academia, public service,
or industry may be recognized. Emphasis should be on contributions that have
strengthened the field of toxicology. Award criteria must include, at a minimum,
the following information:
- Nominating letters
from two IUTOX member Societies;
- A brief statement
detailing how the nominee has made international contributions to the
development of toxicology;
- A current curriculum vitae of no
more than five pages (list at a minimum your five best
publications).
The
IUTOX Merit Award consists of a plaque, waived meeting registration, and a cash
stipend of $1,000. Applications for the IUTOX Merit Award should be submitted
to the Secretary-General, IUTOX, IUTOX Headquarters: 1821 Michael Faraday Drive,
Suite 300, Reston, VA 20190 or by email no later
than May 31,
2016.
